Investment Interest Analyzer

Knowing whether to invest, and what to invest in, can be difficult. There are literally millions of investments options today spanning from rental properties, to equities, to exotic options – each of them offering a unique risk profile and interest rate.

To make things even more complicated, comparing the various options can sometimes be difficult. To help make the process a little bit easier, I’ve created an investment interest analyzer in excel. I use this spreadsheet in many of my own investment decisions when I am trying to determine which investment would be better on the basis of returns.

Below is a summary of the spreadsheet components and where to download:

Compounding Interest Tables

Compounding Interest Tables

The compounding interest table is looked at two different ways:

  • Compounding Interest with Regular Deposits
  • Compounding Interest with varying years

Compounding interest tables are great for analyzing scenarios with a range of outcomes, or scenarios that have a longer time horizon.

Compounding Scenarios

Compounding Investment Scenarios

Compounding scenarios are very similar to the compounding interest tables, but are much more to the point. When you have a specific scenario that you would like to target and analyze, compounding scenarios are going to be your best bet.
